Iona’s A.J. English Out for the Season

Iona freshman guard A.J. English, who has missed the last two games with a wrist injury has been ruled out for the season, head coach Tim Cluess said.

Cluess confirmed that English had surgery to repair his wrist, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.

English averaged seven points per game, playing in 17 games and making six starts this season for the Gaels. The freshman had an early impact, making a career high five three pointers in Iona’s 87-69 win against Liberty in December. English tied his career-high 17, set the game before in Iona’s overtime win at Georgia.

Without English expect the Gaels to continue to rely on a short rotation. Cluess only played eight players in the Gaels’ win at Loyola (MD) last week.
